There are few people lingering around the library this evening. Those that are here spend their time quietly reading by themselves or scanning bookshelves for some tome that's hidden amongst so many others. The librarians move about like invisible servants, cleaning up and checking books back in without much in the way of distraction. It's the middle of the afternoon and the sun streams in from the skylight high over head nearly two stories up. The day is clear but that just makes it terribly cold.

Rahne has found herself alone at a large table in the middle of the room, a small stack of periodicals beside her: mostly of the fashion and teen magazine variety, uncharacteristically enough. She looks a little skeptical as she picks the top one off the stack and begins flipping through it, studying the ads before moving on to the table of contents. Resting one arm along the edge of the table, she leans over the page to read silently. Her jacket and bag rest of the seat beside her, but otherwise there remains plenty of room at her table.

Felix is enjoying himself, sprawled in a chair at the table across from Rahne, thick book in hand and partly balanced on the edge of the table. From the cover, and the glossy picture of some bushy plant on the page he's reading, it's a horticulture book.

Kurt doesn't enter with a particular book in mind. No, he's here to browse his favourite genres every bit as much as he is to get out and about. After all, it's not terribly often that he manages to leave the Xavier grounds nowadays. So, cloaked in the safety of his image inducer, he starts toward the fiction section. It's a moment or two before he notices Rahne and Felix, smiling in pleasant surprise as he starts over. "Ach, fancy seeing you two here," he greets. "Mind if I join you?"

Alessia is recently in out of the cold, southern girl decked out in scarf and gloves and already wishing for spring. Unzipping her jacket as she finds a book she's been meaning to read. By no means schoolwork, it's part of a romance series. Moving towards a table in the corner, only to stop and give a double take. Cautious steps, checking around their table, before a smile. Heya, Kurt, Felix.. Ah didn' expect ta run inta anyone Ah knew here."

Rahne looks up from her magazine as Kurt speaks, blushing a bit to be reading such things but there's really no hiding it so she at least doesn't make it worse by trying. "Ach, Kurt, hullo," she greets with a quick smile, glancing across the Felix. "I dunnae mind, of course." As the other girl happens by, Rahne just offers her a shy smile before glancing back down at her magazine.

Felix glances up from the book and grins in surprise at Kurt. "Kurt! Fancy meeting you here. 'Course you can join us." And then things just get better because Alessia shows up ... though it takes Felix a few seconds to remember who she is, because he hasn't dealt with her much. "Hello there, Alessia." He motions to a nearby seat. "C'mon and join us. This young gal here is Rahne. Don't think the two of you have met before."

"Danke," Kurt says simply as he slips into the seat next to Rahne. "Ja, I wasn't exactly expecting to see you two here eith-- Er, hello there." That last bit is said to Alessia. "Ach, am I going to run into everyone I know at this library?" That's said in good humour and not frustration, though. He nods a little to Felix's introduction of Rahne but leaves them to say any further 'hello's, only offering a friendly, "Do feel free to join us." after a moment or two.

Oooh look, another redhead! And Alessia isn't the only one reading less than intellectual material. Double bonus! "Hi. " Drawled to he girl, before eyes shift back to the duo she knows, Kurt a little better than Felix. Who she hasn't seen.. since heavens, that incident at the museum. " Hey.. how's everythin', Felix? " Wondering if he's still involved with what's her name, but as no name comes to her right away, she doesn't inquire. Smile flashing for Kurt, she's been meaning to try and call him, but studying gets crazy. Then eyes swing back to Rahne. " Nice to meetcha." Sliding into a chair. "Everyone jus' stockin' up on readin' before there's colder weather?"

There is a terribly loud 'meow' from somewhere in the library. Not a pained meow nor an angry meow. Just a meow. A loud one. Meow.

"Aye, it must be the weather, bringing everyone inside," Rahne says in her thick Scottish accent. Yep, she's only here reading magazines because of the cold. That's her story and she's sticking to it. She's just looking back down at her magazine, still not even past the letter from the editor, when the meow comes, getting her to promptly look back up with a puzzled expression. She glances around for the source of it and then to the others to see if they heard it too.

"Yes, you are, Kurt. It's a law." Felix says, grinning good-naturedly. Then he nods at Alessia. "Going welle enough." No need to go into details, at least not where potentially unfriendly ears can hear.

Rahne isn't the only one to hear the cat. Felix's head turns sharply in the appropriate direction as well, more curious than concerned.

"It's a law that I have to see everyone I know at this specific library? I might be here for a while, then," Kurt replies to Felix with little seriousness. "And let's hope that I don't have to return often or I'll end up spending most of my week here." He's just settling back in his chair when the meow catches his ear. Looking at the others, he arches an eyebrow curiously. "Hm. That's new." Sitting up a little, he throws a glance about for the cat.

Alessia arches a brow, looking around at the sound of a meow. "Did any of y'all..." Surely they heard it too. Their reactions answering her question before it's even fully out. "Seems we ain' tha only ones wantin' out of tha changin' weather. "

"A' leas' yeh coul' have a seat while meeting up wi' everyone," Rahne suggests, trying to look on the bright side of even this highly hypothetical situation. She's half-distracted, still looking around for the source of the meow, even going so far as to lean back so that she can peer under the table. "Seemed loud, didnae? Mus' be close... I hope we dunnae get in trouble for having an animal in here."

"Don't think we'll get in trouble. We can honestly say we didn't bring it in with us."

Kurt gives Rahne a grin as she points out the silver lining. "Ja, I suppose that's true." As she goes on about the meow, though, he furrows his brow in thought. "Exactly," he agrees with Felix. "Unless it decides to follow us around the library, I don't see how we can be blamed. Still... I wonder how it got inside. And where it is." After all, it /did/ sound close. Once again, he glances around, bending a little to peer beneath an adjacent table and over toward the nearest shelves.

Alessia grins at Rahne's suggestion. "Think of it like a King on his throne, Kurt. " Glancing around without trying to look too suspicious. "Ah don' think so, Ah think they'd have ta see it on us. An' Ah don' have any cat hair on me. " Nodding at what Felix was saying. "Hope it doesn't follow us about. Look kinda suspicious. " leaning back in her chair to try and look around the corner of a counter.

A voice rings out from the second floor "Cats aren't allowed in libraries!" It's someone with that 'know it all' attitude as if they wrote teh very rules. Librarians stop what their doing as people start to look around albeit casually. So far, it's little more than a curiosity at this moment.

Another meow rings out, this one a bit annoyed (the miffed cat meow to those in the know).

"I hope yeh're righ'," Rahne says to these reassurances they won't be blamed. Even so, she can't help but look a little guilty as the other patrons begin to get annoyed. "Where /is/ it coming frae?" she mutters, finally closing her magazine so that she can crane around in her chair and look under the table behind.

Felix eyed the area. "It just might." He forwarns. "Most animals can smell ... " He hesitates, then taps next to one eye, indicating his mutation. "And they either get scared or decide they like it." He frowned up at the second floor and the rude person, then shook his head as the second miaow sounded. "Ahh ... got it now. That way." He points towards the middle of the room.

"... Really?" That's said to Felix's bit of information. Kurt makes a thoughtful sound in the back of his throat, still looking around for the cat, redirecting his efforts to the middle of the room as it's indicated. "You learn something new every day..."
Alessia has a smile for the younger girl, book forgotten for a moment to get up. A glance at Felix. " Got it all figured out, do ya? " just a faint smile, as if this is just an amusing adventure. Much preferable to other things.. after all, how bad could a cat in a library get?

Then... there are meows. A LOT of meows. Like... meows from 30 cats... 40... maybe even more. It's hard to tell. They are meowing up a storm. Roughly, they are cats around the one year to eighteen month range and they start -charging- down the stairs toward the sound of the first meower. They are of all colors, shapes and sizes too; long hair, short hair, no hair... Startled people upstairs cry out though it's not in abject fear so much as surprise and as the beasts make their way downstairs, it's like they're stampeding.

Rahne gives a thoughtful sort of shrug, returning her periodical to the stack before standing up herself, sliding out of the chair sideways rather than pushing it back. "Let's see if we cannae find this kitten, aye?" she says with a small smile, just beginning to head in that direction when, suddenly, a tidal wave of cats come pouring in. "Ach, wha'-?" she exclaims in surprise, freezing in place.

"Holy ... " Is as far as Felix gets when the stampede makes itself known. He flinches a bit against the cacaphony of feline voices, then nods. "Right. Find the cat. Pronto." He puts his book aside and gets to his feet, heading in the direction of the original miaow, careful to /not/ step on any of the thundering horde as he goes.

Okay, her own fault for thinking it couldn't get bad. "Figures Ah don' have any antihistamines with me. This is gonna be worse than stayin' tha night at ol' Aunt Eustice's house. Who in tha name of all that's holy let all these kitty cats in here? What, someone tell them there was free cream or somethin'? They stagin' a protest against dogs?

Kurt pushes himself to his feet, scratching his head absently as he tries to locate that persistent little cat. And then there's the Feline Flood. "Vas ist das?" he asks, not really expecting an answer -- not really expecting anyone to understand what he just said, in fact. "Not a clue," he says to Alessia with a distracted laugh. "I'm game to round up the cat but, er... You know what they say about herding cats..."

More come from out in the Librarian's office and more from the stacks downstairs. Still more spill in from a rear entrance and they're all leaping on tables, meowing and carrying on, climbing on things. They're friendly enough as one person finds out by picking one up. But they all do have their claws and as clean as they are they don't seem entirely domesticated either. There could be upwards of three hundred cats taking up the two floors right now with more coming in.

Rahne watches with wide eyes as the cats keep pouring in. "Ach, if we're gang to get the one tha' started this, I think it migh' be like looking for a needle in a haystack. Maybe we need some sort of system?" Though she's a little clueless as to what, exactly, to suggest, as she looks at the sea of kitties. "Where are they all coming frae, anyway? Do yeh think we coul' shoo some outside?"

Felix comes to a halt as more cats pour in. No way is he going to be able to find one cat in this mess. Unless ... "Hang on. I'm gonna see if they're congregating around a central point. We find that, we'll have a better chance at finding the one that started this." He says. "As for where they came from ... well, this is New York City. There's a lot of homeless animals out there." He gets going again, moving cautiously towards the direction he heard the miaow from.

"Ja, but /this/ many homeless animals?" Kurt seems a little unsure of that. "And why on Earth are they all coming here of all places?" He stoops a little, reaching a hand down to brush against the furry masses running all around him as he follows on Felix's heels. "Mein Gott. There are so many..." All the while, he's keeping an eye out for any clue as to where they're all going, though he's trying to keep with the general tide of kitties here.

"Close the doors!" Someone calls out. "Don't let them get out into the street!" Another voice rings out "I called animal control but I don't think they believed me!" An echo of agreement from others. "What're we going to do? They're just... hanging around it seems?" And they're not really congregated at a central spot but there is one sitting on a table all alone cleaning itself. A gorgeous, sleek black cat with a collar that's royal purple with a silver bell hanging from it.

Suddenly, a person from the second floor leans over and lets out a shouted 'MMMMEEEEEEEEOOOOOWWWW!!!!' It's so realistic that either the person has practiced this for a long long time or soemthing weird's going on.

Rahne opts to climb up onto her chair to get a better look at things. The curse of being young and tiny. "Aye, I've never seen this many cats in one place..." She glances around as the voices call out with their varying advice, before turning her attention back to the cats. "Ach, wha' abou' tha' one?" she suggests, pointing at the one sitting alone on the table. "It has a collar. Maybe there's some sor' of information on it? It surely doesnae look like a stray." As the person shouts down with a meow, Rahne's eyebrows go up and she slowly lifts her attention to them.

Felix sighed. "You'd be surprised, Kurt. All it takes is one male and one female ... " He shrugged. "A queen can have two litters a year if the conditions are right, and have anywhere from one to ten kittens. It adds up fast. As for what they're doing here ... " He shrugs. "I can come up with a couple possible options, but none I want to talk about /here/." Translation: Mutant weirdness ahoy, matey. Then he spots the black cat. "Aha. The only one by itself. Might not be the ringleader, but it's a good place to start." Now to get TO it without spooking it. Felix's head snaps up towards the imitator, and his expression goes from amused/concerned to something almost unreadable but very unhappy. "Crap."

Kurt blinks a bit at the zoology lesson, surely taking it all in even as he's scanning for that initial feline. As Rahne points out that beautiful black one, his eyes snap to and, moving very carefully, he begins to wade through the cats toward the apparent ringleader. He stops short in his tracks as the very loud meow comes from upstairs. "Ach, I've heard of 'cat-calls', but that's a little ridiculous," he quips, glancing back to the others.

Another loud 'MMEEEOOWWW' and the person in question mounts the rail, crouched on the edge like he was a cat. He maintains three points of contact still, peering up at the ceiling. The black cat stops licking her paw to look up at the person, a quizzical look in her deep green eyes. "Get off the rail, Chuck," Someone says gently. "And stop fooling around." He turns to the woman and -hisses-. A very convincing and real sound.

Rahne is now rather fixated on watching the crazy cat-man up above. She blanches as he leaps up onto the railing. "Ach, I hope he doesnae fall off of there," she murmurs, blinking at the hissing noise. "Do yeh get the idea something isnae righ' with him?" she asks of the group, bringing her gaze down to look at the black cat and then back up at the man. "Shoul' someone help him too?" She's already hopping down off the chair, no doubt to do so.

Felix is /really/ unhappy now. This is all too familiar, even if the tune has changed a bit. No drama about the 'light', but a mob (albeit four footed and furry) and people acting severely out of character. "Dammit." He snaps, then, in a somewhat calmer tone. "Rahne, don't. If he starts to fall ... " He motions to Kurt. "But don't get near the guy otherwise. No way of knowing if you'll get affected by whatever's making him weird out." He is /going/ to find out who or what is doing this shit and stop it, no matter what it takes. This is /really/ starting to piss him off. "And no way of knowing if he'll take exception to you trying to help and hurt you." Last thing Felix needs is to get pushed to the point of 'shifting, even if it's tempting as hell to do it.
"We can handle him," is Kurt's confident response to Felix, glancing from the cat-man up above to Rahne in silent question before starting away. He doesn't seem angry at all but rather a bit confused -- and, even more than that, curious about this weird, furry chaos they have on their hands. "I don't think he'll hurt me. And if he does? Well, I have back-up." Yeah, he seems to trust Rahne that much.

Alessia stares in disbelief at all the furry felines. "No one evah listens ta tha old reruns of the Price is right, seems. Spayin' and neuterin' is a good thin', folks." Muttering, trying to not get swamped by cats.. and cat dander. Yikes. A glance at the collared cat, before the guy is climbing up on the rail. Blue eyes widening, a start in her hands. No. She wasn't doing a damned thing this time.Looking at Rahne, small and fragile looking, wondering at her age, wondering if that was what she had sort of seemed like back then, but had she been as ready to help as that? A sigh, whining to herself under her breath. "Swear Ah was born under a bad sign, Ah'm not cut out for this stuff." Glancing at Felix, remembering the musuem. But Felix hadn't been at the masked ball, she didn't think. Moving to get a better look up at the guy, sighing. "Ah can find out if it's drugs, or someone else doin' it. " That's about all she can do, without getting closer, and she's just too scared about losing control again to do that. Of course, Felix and Kurt know about her, so what's one more person? Rahne knows them both, doesn't seem to be a big secret. Watching Kurt walking away, then looking up, a large sigh, before she's letting her eyes sort of glaze over.

Cat guy swats a hand at his friend and she withdraws from him. "We might need 911!" she calls out. "This is getting really -weird-." Another voice rings out "As if it wasn't already weird? Getting is a stretch!" The black cat turns to look at Rahne, tilting her head and letting out a purr ridden curious 'meow'. It's almost as if she asks a question. The other cats continue to run around, play and otherwise congregate as wakeful, mischief hungry felines tend to.

Felix lets out a frustrated growl that sounds more animal than human. "Kurt. Rahne. Listen to me." He half-barks, his tone no longer the amiable, easy-going tone he normally uses, but something harder, fiercer. "There is nothing either of you can do. I've seen this before. If you try to mess with him, he's liable to get violent. I saw a worn out, beat down old drunk of a homeless guy take on half a dozen guys before he went down when he was acting off, like that guy is. He'll either come out of it on his own or not." He glances at Alessia. "Up to you if you want to check it out, but I don't want you getting close enough for him to attack you, either."

Rahne glances over at Felix before looking back up at the cat guy on the railing. Her expression doesn't seem doubtful so much as wary, and at Kurt's words she gives a quick smile and a resolute nod. "Aye, we'll be carefu', bu' if he falls..." She blinks a little as Felix barks at them, her eyebrows going up a little. "If he ... If he gets violent, better he doesnae do it on the patrons up there, nae?" she suggests gently, quietly, and with a side-long look at Kurt. In all this, the cat's curious meow is almost lost on her, but she does look over at it, her brow furrowing slightly as if asking it something right back in return.

"Well, we aren't a half dozen men," Kurt answers evenly. "Just... trust us on this, Felix." Somehow he seems quite a bit more confident in his abilities than Felix does. "I know you're looking out for us, but Rahne has a good point. Better us than them. We can defend ourselves. Anyway, we're wasting time arguing. And I'm not about to let him fall before he reaches his senses." With that, he starts away again, gesturing to Rahne with a nod of his head. To Felix, he adds, "You seem to know a lot about the cats and their, er, instincts, so you're probably the best bet to figure things out down here..."

Alessia shakes her head, eyes still looking up. "Not plannin' on anythin' that stupid, Felix hon." Murmured, voice sounding distracted. "Seen it before, Ah'm not keen on gettin' mah ass kicked. " Eyes narrow, then blink, face drawn. Shaking her head harder, before she's focusing again. Finally her head drops, palm rubbing at her forehead. " Ah can't.. it's like it's not workin'. Like tryin' ta get information from a tabby cat. Which, before ya ask, no, Ah can't really do. If it's hurt Ah can tell, stuff like that, but it's not like with us." She almost sounds disappointed, glancing at Felix.

"911 was called! They said they knew which people to contact in Animal Control!" This is from the librarian and then she shouts. "Ack! They're trying to get into the coffee creamer back here!" There's a crash from somewhere else as cats knock things over and start little cat brawls. The guy up top, his eyes wide, turns to the black cat down below and bows his head. The black cat seems to let out a sigh and stands up, the little bell jingling. This gets -every- cat's attention. They all suddenly stop what they're doing... and don't move.

Rahne scurries after Kurt as best she can, dodging felines underfoot while trying to keep an eye both on the man and the cat who seems to be the ringleader. "I hope we dunnae have to do anything too crazy," she murmurs in an undertone, but is cut short by surprise from saying anything else by the sudden stillness. "Do yeh get the feeling something's abou' to happen?" she inquires, her voice still low but perhaps more audible now. She makes a bit of a face, torn between waiting to see what, and getting into some sort of position before it can, so she just sort of winds up following along.

Well, at least /one/ of the three is willing to play it safe. Felix glares at Kurt and Rahne. "Fine. Do as you please. You will anyway." And he stalks away, to a spot where he can't see what's going on, knowing if he stays he's going to end up doing something /really/ stupid, like 'shift and scare the crap out of everyone. He glances down at the cats at his feet and sighs. "Beginning to look like I made the wrong call, ain't it?" He asks them. "Damnfool idiots." Then all of a sudden, all the cats around him go still. "Crap. What now?"

Apparently Kurt is only willing to go so far to play things safe. Right now, there's something weird going on and he has a man's life to worry about -- so he doesn't let the glare he gets from Felix perturb him. What /does/ startle him, however, is the very sudden stillness as all the cats freeze in place. "Er... Jawohl. Very much so." Acting on instinct, he starts to halt as well but ends up continuing on toward the stairs, still intent on working his way up to the man on the second floor.

Hey, safe is good thing. She hasn't had enough of nice, boring safe lately, so it's a bonus. A smile as Felix seems to be talking to the cats at his feet, before that little bell is jingling again, and she notices the big ..guy who /feels/ like a cat is looking.. at the little black cat. "Tha' one, Felix. It's not the big human.. he's looking at her, Ah think...Ah'm not sure.. but.. that one isn't actin' like tha others, either." Nodding, not pointing. "Man, Ah nevah thought Ah was leavin' L'siana for tha twilight zone."

The black cat turns her attention to Alessia and the eyes narrow. The other cats direct their attention to Alessia as well. All of them and she can feel them staring at her; sizing her up. The cat guy stares at the red head and starts to pant in that special way that only cats do. They begin to meow in unison (even the guy) a low pitch 'mew' that's rhythmic. All but the black one. Who just stares.

Rahne gives Felix a sort of wide-eyed look for his muttering, but the smaller girl seems set on her course of action, even if the stillness of the cats does cause her to falter. "Shoul' we jus' get close in case?" she asks Kurt, leaning in to keep her voice down. As the cats begin doing some new strangeness, she frowns over the railing to the level below, trying to figure out what's happening now.

Well triple crap. Quadruple, even. Felix puts himself between Alessia and as many of the cats as he can, crouching just a bit, rather like a cat about to spring, and /glares/ at the black cat with near-murderous intent, body and gaze both saying, very clearly, 'back the fuck off or you're going to be in for more trouble than you know how to handle'. "Alessia ... get ready to move." He says. One twitch, just one, from the cats, and this is gonna be over. It's not worth the hassle. Not to him. Kurt and Rahne will be on their own.

Kurt gives a nod to Rahne's question as he pads up the stairs -- he's trying to move as silently as he can so as not to spook the man or the army of cats that surround the lot of them but he's also trying to move quickly to take advantage of the time he has. By the time he reaches the top, he's crouched low, half on instinct. "Get as close as you can. If he falls, grab him. And if you can't, leave it to me." He flashes her a smile that's half 'reassuring friend' and half 'showman'. "Let's go around on either side of him, mm?" He pauses, leaving her ample time to debate but if she doesn't, he'll start away to approach from the man's right.

Okay..where was the looking glass? "Ya know, if Ah wanted this much weird in mah life, Ah'd do drugs, fer crissakes. " grumbling, looking at the black cat. " Ah didn' bring tha friskies there, kitty, so stop starin' at me." Doing as she does most often when she's getting creeped out, and copping an attitude. "Felix.. what in the heck is goin' on? They can't all be pissed off at me for bein' allergic or somethin', can they? " Hey, he was the resident cat expert here, right?

Very suddenly, the cats start for Alessia and they are purring so loudly in unison, it actually is audible to everyone in the room. The general 'feeling' from them is attraction; they seem ready to snuggle against her and anyone in their way is getting a good rub from face to tail by each cat. Their meows are now filled with little motorized sounds so that it's no longer 'meow' but rather 'b-r-r-row'

Cat guy just watches and pays no attention to Kurt or Rahne.

"Maybe yeh ough' to be ready, in case yeh're needed down there?" Rahne suggests, nodding down at the weirdness below as she watches the cats converge. Still, she just gives a nod for their current plan, falling in to creep along behind Kurt. Her tiny size serves her well in stealth, but then again, so does their target's utter disinterest. She works on getting as close to him as she can, all while keeping an eye out through the railing upon which he's perched.

Felix gives a massive twitch when the cats start moving, and /growls/. It's not nearly as perfect a rendition as the cat-dude upstairs is managing, but then again, Felix isn't exactly trying to imitate a domestic cat. He's imitating something a heck of a lot bigger. "They're being controlled somehow." He tells Alessia. "You want out of here, just give me the word."

"Ja, I will," Kurt assures Rahne, furrowing his brow as he sneaks a look down at the situation down below. Then it's back to to the task at hand. He bends low -- almost but not quite on all fours -- as he approaches Cat Guy; though he casts a wary look to any cats he passes, he doesn't pause until he's as close as he can possibly get to the man. "This is as far as we can go sneaking around," he whispers. "I think we'll have to make our move now." So apparently that's leave for Rahne to try to grab the man if she can manage it while he has her back -- hers and the others down on the first floor.

Alessia isn't having any of that. A glare at little miss Bast there on the table. "Cut that out. Ah don' need any of this shit. " Man oh man, does she want to threaten to call the korean and chinese places down by her apartment... but that might not be a good idea. She's all but ready to hiss and snarl herself. Biting at her bottom lip. "Think Ah figured on the controlled thing from the guy up there who thinks he's a kitty cat. Wouldn't wanna clean that litter box. " A pause. "How we gonna get outta here past all them?"

Unless they are blocked, they were start to rub up against Alessia, practically worshipping her at the moment. And from them, she might even feel an overwhelming sense of safety in her presence as if they feel they can let go with her nearby. They don't pay any mind to other people and even the guy seems to be drooling as he stares down at her. Someone yells out from the office. "Animal control is just arriving!!"

Rahne watches what's going on down below for a moment before looking back over at Kurt. "Aye, all righ'," she agrees with a resolute nod, now doing her best to block out the other distractions and stay focussed on what it is she needs to do. She shuffles forward another inch or two and then suddenly reaches for the man, her body tense, ready to react, but still remaining just a small-for-her age teenager for now. There's not a great deal of strength, therefore, but she knows how to use what she has as she makes her move to attempt to bring him back to safety.

"I have a feeling they won't want to tangle with me." Felix says, eyeing the cats off. There's no one other than Cat Guy in sight, and no one will believe a /word/ he says, not after his performance on the ledge. Shift, scare the shit out of the cats, shift back and run for it. If he has to. With any luck, they might just be able to walk past. This is creeping him out, and he's not even the focus of it.

As Rahne makes her move, Kurt is right there, ready to assist should things go awry. Simultaneously he's still sneaking glances at Felix, Alessia... and her three hundred new friends down there, just to make sure all is alright thus far. Yes, he's practically on pins and needles now -- and yet, there's a certain sort of exhilaration that he can't deny in the face of the unknown.

Alessia is creeped out to the extreme. "F-Felix?" Creeped out by kitty cats. Surely someone, somewhere, is getting a big old laugh out of this one. "This is /so/ not gonna make me a cat person. " muttered. Taking a couple steps, itty bitty ones, to get closer to Felix. A person who sometimes was a big kitty, but nevermind that. Blue eyes cutting towards the cat with the bell, left eye narrowing. " C'mere, kitty." Actually putting her hand out towards the cat, testing some half assed theories. Like the bell, and what'll happen if she can make it jingle with her fingertips. "Ya know, kitty cats, might wanna make a break for it. The man is here.. gonna put y'all in kitty jail, make ya take the long walk.."

The guy is grabbed by Rahne and he turns to her and starts to -purr-. It's loud too and inhuman. There's no way a human throat should make that sound. Nevertheless.... and down below the black cat takes a breath and meows again, a clear thing sort of like saying 'There'. Then the cats all charge for the stairs as if they are one organism, running as fast as their little legs will take them and cruising straight for wherever they came from up there. All but the black one who turns her attention to Kurt and just stares.

She was expecting many things, but this was not one of them. As the guy turns to her, Rahne actually tenses before it processes just what's going on. Is he ... purring? Her eyes open wide and she somewhat uncertainly moves to lead him down onto this side of the railing. "Ach, tha' jus' isnae righ'," she murmurs, glancing over her shoulder at Kurt and seeming a little weirded out by the purring man. Then again, maybe the werewolf isn't one to judge.

Poof gone. Felix watches them go in bafflement, then thinks to warn Rahne and Kurt. "Head's up. Four footed legion headed your way." He calls, just loud enough to be heard without yelling and startling someone. And with that black cat's attention so fixedly on someone else ... Felix makes his move, taking the steps necessary to reach the black cat, hand reaching out to nab.

No, that's not what Kurt had prepared for either. He blinks, looking back over at Rahne and seeming a bit at a loss. "I think that's an understatement, schatzchen." He starts over with the intent of helping her handle the man, despite the fact that he's acting somewhat affectionately at the moment, but Felix's call distracts him. "Ach, we'll be ready." He looks over to the wolf-girl as if to say 'Be ready for cats!'... but does a double take at the first floor as something seems to register. "... Call me crazy but I don't like the way that cat is staring at me..." Yes, he's definitely bracing himself now.

Alessia gives a shuddering sigh of relief. That many cats just make her nervous, much less all trying to touch her. The black cat is watching Kurt, felix is moving to grab the cat, so she's just staying still, acting like she's still trying to beckon the feline. Not giving any more reason forthe cat to look away from Kurt. "How the hell is .." Well how is a cat controlling other cats? So the empath is curious. Nothing too new there, a steadying breath before she's trying to find out if there's someone nearby controlling the cat, even though her powers don't exactly work that way.

The silver bell jingles again. The black cat turns to Felix and steps closer to him, apparently unafraid. Just as the front doors open the last of the hundreds of cats seem to be... well, gone. Just this black one remains in Felix's grip. The cat guy blinks a few times and clears his throat. "What the fuck happened?" He puts a hand to his head, clearing his throat. "What's going on?" And the animal control people are just now entering the site.

Rahne glances down at the cat when Kurt mentions it, keeping a firm grip on Cat Guy in case he decides to hop up on the railing again. But as the guy suddenly speaks up in a normal human voice, her attention returns to him and she suddenly blushes and turns self-conscious, releasing him slowly and patting him on the arm where she'd had her grip. "Ach, woul' tha' I coul' tell yeh," she mutters demurely. "Do yeh think tha's ... it?" she asks, looking over at Kurt with widened eyes.

Felix gets a good grip on the cat, solid without being too restrictive or unintentionally painful, and ducks out of view of the rush of Animal Control people. "I think, kiddo, that you're safer coming with me, than going with /them/." He says. He's not about to assume the cat can't understand him. "Keep quiet and I can get you out of here." Then he glances over at Alessia, and up at the other two. "We're leaving." He says. "I've had more than enough of weird shit." And if they can get out of here without drawing official attention, so much the better.

"I... don't know," Kurt replies, sounding utterly bewildered. He glances about his immediate vicinity, then down to the first floor. No sign of the cats -- save for that conspicuous black one, of course. "Perhaps for now. But I'm betting that this isn't the last we'll see of... whatever happened there." To the Man Formerly Known as Cat Guy, he asks in the most even tone he can manage, "Are you alright, sir?" As he awaits the response, he adds to Rahne in a low tone, "Actually, Felix is right: we should probably make a hasty exit."

Alessia shudders again, giving up. A blink of blue eyes before she's looking at Felix again. Hands rubbing over arms,a sudden feeling as if she was cold. creeped out, more like it. " Twilight zone, Ah tell ya." Shrugging back into her jacket, zipping it up, hands thrusting into her pockets. "Ah'm with ya on enough of the weird shit.. " Official notice of them? That should be easy enough to avoid. A blank look on Alessia's face a moment, before a nudging a couple of people to get a little emotional, not quite hysterical, and start demanding attention. Lids lower and lift, a look at Felix as innocent as if she was the Virgin mary. Nothing going on here, nope. "Ready when ya are."

"So where are all these cats?" One of the animal control types asks anyone in particular. Lots of people are willing to be helpful and gesture toward the back but one in particular says "There's a creepy black one! That kid over there got it!" And then Chuck speaks up near Rahne. "And I think I got turned into a damn cat!" He looks around a bit embarrassed. "Um... Yeah, I guess I'm alright." Animal control turns their attention to Felix. "Black cat?" Asks the officer, skeptically. "We didn't see any cats outside at all. And I kinda doubt that the cats were Spartans. You people playing a prank?" People are all kinds of panicked over this though. It was an emotional situation.

"Aye, yeh ... migh' want to keep tha' quiet," Rahne advises ... Chuck, is it. She gives him a helpful if still completely bashful smile before taking a half-step back, hoping to avoid whatever limelight he might choose to bring on himself at this point. "Ach, it looks like it migh' be too late for them," she states with a grimace, as she leans forward to glance over the railing, ducking back quick in the hopes of avoiding notice herself.

Crap. Crap Crap and double crap. Triple, too. Time to lie like a rug. "I don't know about a bunch of cats." Felix says. "Just this one. He belongs to a friend of mine, and he gets out a lot. Don't know how he got in here, but it's just as well he did, since I was here. I can take him back to my friend." Thank god the cat has a collar to back up the 'owned' theory.

Kurt eyes Chuck for a moment, half expecting him to start meowing again. He gestures to Rahne as she steps away and nods to indicate the way they came. "It's... not looking very good, no. And there's no way that I'm risking a 'port to get him out of here with that cat." Not that said option was actually on the table in the first place. He sighs through his nose, casting another look in Felix's direction (and, by extension, that of the black cat). "Let's head downstairs and figure things out from there?" He's open to suggestions here.

Shit, Felix, shoulda kept your mouth shut. She could have totally figured out something.. well, maybe. She could have tried. Mass hysteria, maybe. "It's true. It's mah fault he's in here, really. Ah was comin' from our friend's house.. might followed me from there. We'll just take it back now. " Really, she could pull off the best 'believe me' face ever. Of course, the fact she was purposely willing them to do just that and believe her and Felix had nothing to do with it, or anything.

"Whatever," The animal control agent shakes his head. "Just get the cat out of here. There's no pets in the library. And whoever called this in, I think the Police are going to want to talk to you. This is just as bad as that stupid Arcade incident." And with that, he and his companions turn to go outside and check the alley again. This breaks the place up into divisions of people that know one another, talking loudly about the bizarre event.

"Aye, all righ'," Rahne agrees to Kurt's suggestion, giving Chuck one last tentative smile before moving towards the stairs. By the time she gets there, things seem to be breaking up, thankfully, though she's still going to proceed cautiously down them, listening in on what's being said with a sort of curious expression. "I feel badly for the poor librarians. This willnae be easy to get back into order," she muses, looking around at the conversing people.

"Of course, sir. We're leaving right now." Felix says, and makes good on the words, heading for the door at a pace that's just escapes being fast enough to draw attention. "C'mon." The word's meant for Alessia, but he also shoots a glance in Kurt and Rahne's attention, telling them it's time to leave without actually bringing them to anyone's attention.

"They'll handle it," Kurt assures Rahne as he makes his way down the stairs with a swift step. "If nothing else, this added a bit of excitement to their day..." Though he catches Felix's look, he doesn't need an outside opinion to tell him it's time to get his tail out of here. Hence the reason why he's making for the door as casually as he can manage while not attracting undue attention. He looks about for Rahne to make sure she's still nearby.

Alessia will wait until she and Felix and she actually get outside to breathe in relief, or even letthat feeling fill her. Too much could still get fouled up, right? Kurt, or their friend there. Who probably thought Alessia was a nut now, but such was life. keeping pace with Felix, head down, but not hanging low like they were up to anything. Just a little ducked, as if she was embarrassed.

Rahne doesn't seem too inclined to linger, even if she's looking guilty about not returning her magazines to their proper reshelving spot. But one must prioritize in instances like these, so she just casts a regretful look back while trotting along to keep up with Kurt. "Aye, excitement. Jus' glad it didnae end too badly, all in all," she has to admit.
